Ernest Lee Collins was born to the late Madison and Quilla Collins, on December 2, 1954. He was preceded in death by a brother, Madison Collins Jr. He accepted Christ at an early age, and joined St. Stephens Baptist Church Saywerville Alabama. He graduated from Greensboro Public School East in 1972 and attended Alabama A&M University. He was employed by International Paper Company for 25 years.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Jannie Pickens in 1978. To this union five children were born. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was generous, loving, and caring to all that knew him. On Saturday June 24, 2006, he entered into eternal rest.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Jannie Collins of Greensboro, Alabama. Four daughters; Annie (Andre) Howard, Yolanda (Ralph) Howard, Katrina Collins, and Marquilla (Dexter) Ryans; one son; Rashad Collins all of Greensboro, Alabama. One sister; Helen (Frederick) Crayton of Greensboro, Alabama, two brothers, John (Magalene) of Birmingham, Alabama, Wayne (Lee) Collins of Cleveland, Ohio. A devoted mother-in-law, Annie Pickens of Greensboro, Al. Three brother- in-laws, Johnny (Gwendolyn), George (Patricia) Pickens, and Alfonso Pickens all of Greensboro, Alabama. Two sister-in-laws, Rosia (Will) Pickens of Euclid, Ohio, Laura (Howard) Gates of North Lauderdale, Fl. Nine grandchildren, Darreion, Makaila, Tavionne, Keonna, Ke’Amber, Trey, Kamya, Tyler ,and Dextrina, all of Greensboro, Al. A host of uncles, aunts, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
